FEBRUARY 5/ 98

OK! So it’s been forever since we’ve updated our journal section. Too much news to cover. I’ll just start with the here and now. We just got out of the studio with Jack Endino and are gearing up for an early April release of our EP Perfect Math . Before recording the EP I was subjected to many forms of advice (some of it even invited) mostly along the lines of "rock is dead, people hate rock. The last thing Bell needs to do is make a rock record." The more that I heard this, the more I became convinced that what we needed to do was make a ROCK record. So I called Jack Endino (god of all rock records) and started a label called "Yeah, It’s Rock." I never was very good with advice. At first I think Jack wasn’t too sure about us. The sound of BELL rehearsing will breed hesitation in the most intrepid of hearts. Still, Jack persevered and came to see it our way.

I was nervous about working with him because, well, he is Jack Endino, but that wore off. I was soon prattling on like an idiot and eating my way through his assortment of crackers and nuts. The recording was a bit grueling but I only cried once, which is a personal record. It’s taken me a few days to come down and hear what we’ve done. I’m excited because it’s the best so far.

Right now, my life is pretty hectic. Damon and I are booking a 7 week, 36 city tour of the states and that’s enough to kill you. We’re also busy trying to get all the artwork together and make 1000 deadlines. The EP release party is in April at the Break Room with the Delusions and 4-hr Ramona, both great bands. Anyway, that’s the update. I’m going to write at least monthly from now on. Not sure who’ll read it, but hey, when I’m ancient I’ll the band Internet diary to show to my grandspawn.
